Passion

Q&A, 20th May 2007, with Jeremy Rutherford

Passion.

We have lots of it but we don't know about it in each other and in other cell groups

Looking back over the last 2 years, what passions have driven you

Were they shared with your cell group

If so did it lead to anything

Are you living with a passion today which is yet to be fulfilled

How could a cell group help to enable this passion become reality

Definition of passion – strong feeling or emotion, we can be passionate about how we feel, strong devotion to a cause or ideal, the Passion of Christ.

Jeremy illustrated by sharing three areas in which he has had a passion:-

He and Wendy were friends when teenagers, he really liked her but she didn't share those feelings, then they drifted apart and moved away, then later became very close friends which Jeremy couldn't cope with because he still liked her. God gave Wendy a message all about the man he had for her, which she told Jeremy, so he prayed and prayed like never before for her to realise it was him. Passion, eagerness & desire to bring it before God.

A few years ago Jeremy & Wendy had a real desire to see the people in their street come to know God, or at least be in a position to make a decision. They, with Alex Bottrill, started a cell and ran a marriage course. Had good attendance and people enjoyed it. Then moved on to doing an Alpha course with some of the same couples. Each of the couples decided not to follow God at this point. They had the opportunity.

Jeremy also has a growing passion for church, for who we are, for where we're going, how we're going, how we're sharing our faith with our friends.

Some points to remember:-

Church and cell can never do everything.

In Network Church the drive and the passion comes from the congregation, it's not all top-down.

Be encouraged to share your passion with others in cell, or like-minded people in other cells.
